A Dublin man whose Christmas light tradition has raised thousands for charity has unveiled his light display for 2024, despite now being 86 years of age.

Mr Tilly's 29-year-old tradition has brought joy to neighbours and visitors over the decades and he is now legendary in his locality in Sandymount, Co Dublin.

He has raised a total of €210,000 to fund the Our Lady’s Hospice and Care Services in honour of his late wife.

Mr Tilly's house, located in Bath Avenue Gardens in Sandymount, Co Dublin, was named "one of the most decorated homes for Christmas."

On Saturday last, Santa visited the neighbourhood on horse and carriage and people gathered to watch Mr Tilly turn on his spectacular festive decorations.

The display, according to a post by Our Lady's hospice on Facebook, takes three weeks for Mr Tilly to prepare.

Local Irishtown Community Policing Gardaí assisted in Santa’s arrival to Mr Tilly’s house for the big switch-on.
