WATCH: Truck load of hay bales overturns on M7 roundabout in Laois

A truck has overturned on the Junction 17 roundabout of the M7 outside Portlaoise this afternoon, Tuesday July 21.

The Leinster Express is on the scene, where thankfully nobody was injured.

Emergency services on the scene have described the accident as “a lucky escape”.

There is currently no access from the Motorway into Portlaoise at the junction, which also serves Abbeyleix, the Midway motorway services centre and the Portlaoise Plaza service station. The roundabout is partially open in other directions.

However the N77 road between Portlaoise and Abbeyleix is open both ways to traffic.

Laois Gardaí warn that “ Traffic is extremely slow and emergency services are working to resolve the issue. Please drive with care. “
